Why does laminate flooring deform?

, Due to improper use, the faucet or heating system in the kitchen or toilet may run out of water, causing the laminate flooring to soak for too long, causing it to experience swelling and deformation. As the size of the swelling increases, there is no place to stretch and it can only be arched.

, Continuous overcast and rainy weather, high relative humidity in the air, no dehumidification measures taken, moisture in the air is absorbed by the laminate flooring and expands.

, The house has been left empty for a long time, uninhabited, poorly ventilated, and the paint layer evaporates with moderate moisture, leaving no room for it to dissipate and expand after being absorbed by the laminate flooring.

, The moisture content of the base concrete is too high, and the moisture-proof isolation layer is not sealed and expands due to moisture absorption.

, No expansion joints left or too narrow. When laying the floor, a 2-centimeter gap should be left as the expansion joint when laying it against the wall, and then covered with a baseboard. Some owners may not reserve expansion joints between adjacent wooden floors as required for cleanliness, or ask the laying workers to leave the joints as thin as possible. This will also make the laminate floor unable to extend, and it is easy to arch due to moisture absorption and expansion due to humid air, and even the paint surface may crack due to insufficient expansion and contraction between the laminate flooring and the wall.

, Some homeowners have workers fill the expansion joints with small wooden chips, gypsum, putty, or nail them with skirting lines, making the floor unable to extend and causing it to arch.

, When installing the laminate floor in two or more rooms, there are no buckles installed at the door jambs. When there is high humidity, the horizontal lines of the floor in both rooms extend, causing mutual tension at the entrance of the room and causing the floor to arch up.

, During the installation process, if there are foreign objects left under the laminate floor and the floor is not cleaned in a timely manner before it is safe, it can also cause the laminate floor to arch.

, The base layer under the laminate floor arches. If there is already a solid wood floor on the original ground before installing the floor, it will also cause the floor to bulge due to moisture after installing the laminate floor.

, Frequently mopping the laminate floor with a damp mop can cause water to seep into the ground.

, When laying the laminate floor, ensure that the concrete or insulation materials are dry. If they are not dry, they must be dried before laying the laminate floor.
